Serving as the Vice President, Head of Business Development, Max strives to ensure impeccable client experience and efficient work environment for the entire Superior Mortgage team. Max has helped engineer the firm’s collaborative culture that has led to success implementing solutions to assist with the most complex transactions. In addition to his role at Superior Mortgage Co., Inc, Max also serves as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of SM Capital, Inc., a company he founded in 2019 and maintains the firm’s majority stakeholder.
SM Capital, Inc. is a subsidiary company serving as the commercial real estate and investment arm of parent corporation, Superior Mortgage Co., Inc. As CIO, Max is responsible for overseeing the arranging of both debt and equity financing on behalf of the firm’s clients, while also solidifying relationships with key capital sources. Max specializes in working with sophisticated residential and commercial investors on intricate transactions, utilizing the relationships and resources he’s solidified to offer bespoke solutions tailored to meet the needs of each individual situation.
Prior to joining Superior Mortgage, Max worked in roles involved in the broader capital markets industry within New York City’s financial district, most recently at global investment bank, Oppenheimer & Co., where he engaged in the analysis of alternative investments such as hedge funds, private equity funds, private credit and non-traded real estate investment funds. Before his time at Oppenheimer, Max worked for institutional investment manager, AllianceBernstein, on the fixed-income trading and sales desk analyzing the mortgage bond market where he was tasked with oversight of the firms’ proprietary trading portfolio of Mortgage-Backed Securities, (MBS) and Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities, (CMBS).
Max graduated from the Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Business Administration – (BBA) degree in finance and was an NCAA Division I athlete as a member of the Men’s Golf Team. Max continued his education further, earning a Master of Business Administration – (MBA) from the Columbia Business School at Columbia University.
Beyond his obligations overseeing the firms’ multiple lines of business, Max the is Founder & Editor of The REal Insiders Scoop. A real estate centric publication he authors, publishing weekly articles hosted on multiple public platforms. Max is also active in leadership roles within the community, serving on the board of directors for numerous non-for-profit organizations.
